Parkinson Disease
Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive condition caused due to loss of dopamine producing neurons in the substantia nigra (part of the Basal Ganglia).
Parkinson disease causes both speech and non-speech symptoms.

Major non-speech motor symptoms of PD:
- Problems in gait
- Rigidity (stiffness in muscles)
- Bradykinesia (slowness of movements)
- Rest tremors
- Autonomic dysfunction
- Loss of smell
- Cognitive deficits
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Reduced speech volume
- Fast speech rate
- Increased pauses in speech
- Reduced speech intelligibility
